Promoting your Booth

The Green Living and Energy Expo is the premier energy efficiency and conservation event in Southwest Virginia.   The people who attend the expo are eager to learn more about your products and services, and are ready to take action to make their home or lifestyle more sustainable.   This is a prime opportunity to actively engage potential visitors as potential customers.   Here are some suggestions:

  • Be interactive:   Have a display that engages visitors with hands-on examples of your product or service.   If your product or service does not lend itself to interaction, consider using a game, prize wheel, or similar attraction to draw visitors to your table.
  • Be friendly:   When at all possible, stand behind your booth rather than sit.   Greet visitors as they walk by and invite them to learn more.   If you have promotional items or are running a contest, invite people to participate.
  • Be obvious:   Make sure the name of your organization is clearly visible by using a banner, backdrop, poster, or other display.
  • Be exciting:   A boring table is a bad table.   Avoid simply spreading brochures and posters on your table and leaving it at that.   Save literature as something you actively hand out as you engage customers.

Building a Sustainable Booth

As an exhibitor or sponsor of the Green Living and Energy Expo, you clearly value sustainable practices as both money-saving and critical to the health of the environment.   We encourage you to view your exhibit as both a means to engage customers with your product as well as to highlight your own dedication to sustainable practices.   To that end, please consider the following when setting up your booth:

  • Keep extraneous paper (brochures, posters, etc.) to a minimum to reduce paper consumption.   Consider distributing half-sheets or business cards with links to your website for more information rather than printing brochures or packets of flyers.
  • Use recycled paper for all flyers and other handouts.
  • Avoid displays that beep, flash, whir, etc. just to get attention.   If you need to run a video, slideshow, or other presentation, try to use Energy Start monitors if at all possible.   Practice conservation/efficiency measures at your exhibit as an example to your customers.
  • Use energy efficient products as promotional items if appropriate.   Many CFLs can be purchased or repackaged in unmarked boxes, which you can then sticker with your company’s logo.   Think about promotional items that reinforce your company’s message and reinforce sustainable practices.
