AECP Events

Events create important opportunities for members to build relationships, exchange ideas, and network with industry peers. AECP currently hosts two annual events, an Annual Member Meeting and the Peer Exchange.

AECP’s Annual Member Meeting

AECP’s Annual Member meeting historically takes place during the Virginia Weatherization Interchange – hosted by CHP’s Training Center and sponsored by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development – in the Summer at Virginia Beach. The Annual Member meeting is free for all current AECP members to attend; however, registration for the Virginia Weatherization Interchange is required. Based on our expanded membership, we are exploring opportunities for expanded members to attend the AECP’s Annual Member meeting as a standalone event within the Virginia Weatherization Interchange. Keep an eye out for more developments as planning for the Virginia Weatherization Interchange takes place over the winter.

By attending the Annual Member meeting, members can expect to hear from AECP’s board chair; vote on a slate of new and/or current board members; receive updates from the previous year’s accomplishments and AECP’s vision for the future of Virginia weatherization; honor the network by sharing success stories, recognize retirements, and remember those in the network we lost over the previous year; and recognize superlatives in our network through the John Langford Memorial Scholarship and the AECP Person of the Year awards.

AECP’s Peer Exchange

With recent changes in the Virginia WAP network’s weatherization events schedule, the Peer Exchange is now typically held in the Spring. The location of the Peer Exchange will change each year to different parts of the Commonwealth. There is a registration process and fee to attend the Peer Exchange with reduced rates for AECP members, as well as early bird rates, to attend. This two-day event begins in the afternoon of the first day and ends by lunch on the second day, allowing members to travel to and from the event. Coffee, tea, and refreshments are provided throughout the event, and breakfast is provided on the morning of the second day.

By attending the Peer Exchange, members can expect to learn about federal and state-level policy changes; hear from leveraged program administrators and other industry partners; engage with their peers in facilitated exchanges about managing average cost per dwelling unit (ACPU), building and maintaining a strong contractor network, initiating or expanding multifamily weatherization operations, and much more. We also make time and space for networking among WAP subgrantees, contractors, funding partners, advocacy organizations, and other mission-aligned organizations.
